Braco
Stables is situated in the parish of
Trelawny, Jamaica – approximately
32 miles east from Montego Bay and
approximately 25 miles west from Ocho
Rios. The parish of Trelawny is steeped
in history – and the Braco Estate is no
exception as it dates back to the mid 17th
Century when the property had its own
sugar factory and produced sugar. Later
the estate changed to cattle farming,
with pimento and lime orchards. Today
the horses have the privilege of grazing
in the paddocks and enjoy the wide-open
spaces. The Braco House was built in the
mid 1700’s – the overseer’s journal that
was found in the basement, dates back to
1755.
The overseer’s house
became known as the Braco Great House
because of its strategic position and
majestic appearance.
The Braco Great House has been
restored and great attention paid to the
details so that the original appearance
of the house has been maintained and is
now a private residence.
